13 days till Summer begins.
Grab a bite of this, an old but new to some.
I heard this track on a series three episode of Ugly Betty in one of the closing scenes and then it was used as a backing track on a Matthew Fox advertisement selling a L’Oreal product. Never the less ‘La Ritournelle’ by French muso Sebastien Tellier is a very chill track to listen to, add it to a track list on your summer mixtape to play on those balmy summer nights. For some reason every time I hear this song I always imagine riding an old school bromptom in the country side or in a local coastal village. Download the track. Better yet download or purchase his 2008 album Sexuality which was produced by one half of Daft Punk, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. There are a couple of good tracks on there with my personal favourite being ‘Roche’. Here’s the stop motion film clip to the 2007 track ‘La Ritournelle’. The best part happens at 0:58 (: Oh and I’ve added two fresh photos for you too peek out of my nephews Nathan and Dylan-Ashton.

Enjoy.

OK guys I’ve been in a nest these couple of months because
1. Uni got freaking intense, and it wasn’t as ‘per usual’ BUT I’M DONE AND DUSTED WITH UNI. So there you have it I have a degree in Media and Communications with a minor in Film Theory Studies. Wurd to your mother!
2. I started working for FremantleMedia again. I’m working TWO jobs so I can save up for my trip next year, and JULIA you owe me run hunled dorrarrs (: because that is a part of our ‘bet’.
3. I’ve been in and out of home as well, living at my brothers and folks, just to get away from one or the other.
Now for some this may sound completely normal you know the old balance between work and play, but to me it’s a massive change. It was so massive that the other day just after working 13 days straight I smacked out at the keyboard at home and got sent home. Yes I’m soft as some might say. But damn did it feel good having a reasonable amount of sleep. I was such a princess with my sleep back in the day. I used to get a good 8 hours worth, and with uni being a bitch and working the early hours at BC I was only getting half my 8 hours. Let me tell you sleep is a big thing for me and it should be for you too!
I have been working on a few blogs but haven’t tweaked them enough for them to be ‘wordpressable’ as per say. So I’m back with new content and more than ever. Let’s say I have about ten in the cage ready to be unleashed. With some introducing some new local meat and some international meat on the music scene, to some various night shenanigans, more fashion and movie reviews, and to the 411s. I’m trying to slowly generate and leak this onto the interweb for your eyes just so it’s not a massive hit, unless you’re edging for a hit like a junkie!
Now some of you know I love my themed drinkies and I haven’t had a good drink or few since high school when it used to be a daily thing. That my friends were the trashbag days and it didn’t involve going to the city on a daily weekend, forking out a few on a new outfit or on some tasteless cocktails, I personally think the best drinkies are best kept at home. Lately I’ve been getting into the spirit of having themed piss-ups cause heck it rips having to wait in line and pay the fee just to get in and have a good time.
Just a few me and my besties have had were:
-Spanish night, which of course involved tequilla, nachos, burritos and massive sombreros
-Japanese night which involved two massive platters of sushi courtesy of Sushi bay, 2 bottles of sake and our infamous Japanese rendition of the flash card game.
-Italian night, which involved 20 year old grappa (courtesy of Julia’s late Nonno) and thank John Lennon did we polish it down well, and of course tagged along with pizza.
-Russian night, which involved our ‘Russian’ hats (which was a complete fail because we all rocked up with different hats that weren’t Russian) but did involve Vodka and a ridiculous amount of off key Karaoke.
-Indian/Thai night which just happened last night. We got a bit lost in translation with this one. We ordered curry, Thai curry, and some naan bread. As for beverages we were a tad bit off since we don’t exactly know how to make a Raging Indian… so we settled for a bit of red and moscato.
Now I don’t know where we’ll go next, but we’re planning on visiting Ireland, England, China, the States, and Egypt. The key to having these piss ups is to make them last minute. When you make them last minute there’s a tad bit more spontaneity involved that of which involving which country you aim to visit next and what ridiculous last minute research involved to finding the country beverage!
Anyhoo I’ll leave it for now. Keep up with me daily and at some stage I WILL bring back my twitter. Here’s a few photos from where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing.

I love Freddie.

This should have been the Temper Trap moment (:
So stay there
Cause I’ll be coming over
And while our blood’s still young
It’s so young, it runs
And won’t stop til it’s over
Won’t stop to surrender…

500 Days of Summer Review.
Hey you lot (:
Does anybody else think this Dust Storm is ridiculous? Some people have just washed their cars for no reason, but hey on the plus side it’s a free day to get your tan done, cause you know carrot-coloured, actually stained legs is the next hip thing (;
Anyhoo I went and watched 500 Days of Summer (directed by Marc Webb) yesterday, overall it was excellent, although not amazingly excellent. But enough to keep you in your seat and on your toes. I adored G-Levitt and Deschanel. G-Levitt’s charm and Deschanel’s character flooded each scene, and they pulled it off. But I will give it in some scenes the dialogue was just not enough to keep you in it. Aesthetically it was great. Did any of you Medcom and Film students pick up on the Nu French Wave references we learnt in second year? Oh and throw in a bit of parody scenes from Swedish director Ingmar Bergman? Some people may not like the films ‘Brechtian’ influences, but it works in the sense that Webb intends it to. Don’t get me wrong the script was good, but short of great. The overall plot was good as well. I’m giving it an 8.5/10.
I still highly recommend it, only because you’ve got two great stars (with G-Levitt being branded as the next rising star, or so I’ve read and I loved him growing up!) and Zoey Deschanel… Well she’s gorgeous and I absolutely loved her in Elf (with Anchorman lead, Will Ferrell). It’s definitely not a chick-flick/not exactly a notebook romantic story, but there is a balance of aws and woahs which works in the film’s favour. Definitely download or buy a copy of the soundtrack, great choices and definitely a spring compilation mix. Here’s a treat for all you Temper Trap fans, I watched these guys a year or two ago as a support act, I think it was either at Bloc Party of Kasabian, all too back now. Also for all you Skins and music fans, don’t you think they should play this in on the show? It’s definitely one of them Skins moment songs, like when they played Adele’s Hometown Glory as Cassie was running away?

Hitting the 411 kids.
Hey kids,
Sorry my blogs haven’t been consistent. I have a lot on my plate at the moment like my two big major projects coming up, and it’s just been stress, stress, stress meaning my zen levels is negative 100. After everything settles down a bit I’ll be able to write more and fill you in just a tad bit more on what’s happening, meaning more spam on your twitter and fb.
BUT BASICALLY HERE’S A RUN DOWN:
- Currently in Post-Production for my media project. I WILL BE SENDING INVITES OUT FOR THE EXHIBITION. (Refer to my previous blogs in August “Watch this space…”)
- Currently in Production/Post Production for my group feature film Major. Just need to do a bit of re-shooting. Steven Correa has now been replaced with the wonderful Mitchell Winter (an upcoming Australian star, remember you heard it here first).
I’LL ALSO BE SENDING OUT INVITES FOR THIS PREMIERE. Some of you may think it’s just another thing, but to UNSW it means a lot, to the EMPA Faculty this is a first for the University. So if my third year course can pull this off, I think we’ll be recognized as veterans (: And hopefully you all can be a part of it, and a long line of Film history for the Uni.
- Currently assignmenting/studying for final exams (Philoshitty & Transnational Media in the Asia Pacific)
- Catching up on TV: Entourage, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother, and a newly The Beautiful Life convertee. Yes I live for the drama.
- Started working out again, can anybody say treadmill and skating junkie?
- Working on yet another spectacular series of the Biggest Loser 2010 Series. Stay in tuned (;
So yeah this is what my life has consisted of, not in any particular order but that’s the 411.

I like.

Mr. I. Miyake
I like:
Yamamoto, Kawakubo & Miyakes work during the 80s boom period in Japan.
I like:
Rich Girls by American Indie band The Virgins.
I like:
Soy Hot Chocolates & Chocolate Crunch (this lovely chocolate fudge with macadamia nuts) at La Petit Tarte Cafe (the cafe we were filming at last week), actually Glebe has a good variety of cafes/restaurants/pubs/boutiques if you really look around the corners.
I like:
Having the ability to con people into buying stuff, I guess it comes in handy working in retail. For i.e Fely’s beautiful Chanel ring that she purchased from Bondi Westfields. She is now officially engaged to herself.
I like:
That I’m able to cop it from my mum for having expensive taste, while she buys more and more to add to her Swavrovski collection. Yet expensive taste is something I acquired from her, funnily enough.
I like:
That the Parklife line up is decent this year and is right around the corner. I can say I look forward to the many fashion faux pas! And the many unique bastards and bitches that actually know what to wear.
I like:
Knowing that I’m wrapping up at uni in about 4 or 5 weeks.

09.09.09
Sorry just wanted to let everyone know of the date. Pretty crazy.
This is the date of September 9, 2009.
- This coming September 9, 2009, is the 252nd day of the year, 252 adds to 9, and 09-09-09 = 27.
- 09-09-09 is also the last of the single-digits dates for quite a while – 92 years to be precise.
- It is also the upside-down number of “the beast” - satan = 666, of course.
- The day itself falls on a Wednesday and both Wednesday & September have 9 letters.
